January 11, 2024 No Comments

January 15, 2024, Virginia, USA

NOTE:  This scholarship is made possible by an anonymous donor (DonorsTrust)

Founded nearly 100 years ago, Raisina is a senior secondary school located on Mandir Marg, New Delhi, India.  It is an English-medium school, with a special focus on the “Bengali” language and culture.  Prior to the 9th grade, Bengali is compulsory, while at the secondary level, students can opt for Hindi, Bengali or Sanskrit as their primary language.  The school has three streams of education – Science, Commerce and the Arts.

For 2024, MKK-USA plans to provide ten (10) scholarships to meritorious and needy students.  The “Scholarship Fund” will be managed by Mr. Achintya Sengupta (a 1964 graduate of Raisina) and Mrs. Kamala Mookerjee (a retired teacher from St. Thomas School).  Selection of scholars (after results are announced in March/April), will be done by Raisina’s Principal and senior teachers, in consultation with the Fund managers.

December 2023.  Supply Chain Management and Inflation

December 19, 2023 No Comments

Have you noticed that U.S. INFLATION is under control (and inching down)?

One reason for this is the renewed emphasis in the United States on supply change management.  The Covid-19 pandemic had disrupted supply chains around the globe, making it costlier to manufacture/produce, stock, distribute and get items to the consumer.

It’s time for the FED to stop raising interest rates any more (should start bring them down soon), and let the economy heal, create jobs, and grow without stifling inflation.

It is heartening to see that the White House Council on Supply Change Resilience, created in November. 2023, is working hard to fix supply chains in the U.S.  We do not want another baby-formula or food shortage driving up prices.  Wharton professor Dr. Marshall Fisher says, “In terms of a grade, I would give it an A-plus for what it’s (the Council on Supply Chain) is trying to do…”  He also says that It is critical to our national security, not just getting products to consumers cost-effectively and in a timely manner.  “Why Supply Chains Are Key to Fighting Inflation – Knowledge at Wharton (upenn.edu)”

UPDATE – December 16, 2023.  Great News:  The FED paused rate increases in December, and hinted at three possible rate cuts in early 2024.

The Best Countries in the World

November 30, 2023 No Comments

Wharton marketing professor Dr. David Reibstein is out with his latest ranking of countries. According to his study, Switzerland tops the list again.
What Is the Best Country in the World? – Knowledge at Wharton (upenn.edu)
According to him, Switzerland is economically stable, open for business, have great education, have a good quality of life and comfortable retirement.
According to Reibstein, the U.S. – 5th overall – ranks high in entrepreneurship, agility and power, but gets low ranks for quality of life (23rd) and  open for business. (59th).  The low ranking for “open for business” means that U.S. economic development professionals have a lot of work to do.
Reibstein says that India is the “Rising Star.” It is the country to invest in. He states, “If you want to bet on development in any country, India is the one that a lot of people put their money behind.”

Here are the TOP TEN: Switzerland, Canada, Sweden, Australia, United States, Japan, Germany, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Netherlands.

BHARAT (the new name for India) is a world leader

    September 22, 2023 No Comments

Under PM Narendra Modi, India has emerged as a Global Leader, on its way to becoming the greatest economic power in the world. “India will become the Number One economy in the world,” John Chambers, CEO of Cisco Systems.

Now, let’s call her by her real name – BHARAT.

Next, let’s not call BHARAT a part of the Commonwealth – there was, nor is, anything common in commonwealth. It was the wealth that the Brits looted from India and the rest of the world. It’s a shame that they display them on their Crown and in their museums.

    Just my 2-cents worth!
